Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist to join our CAR-T research team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the design, development, and optimization of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) constructs using in vitro and in vivo assays. You will work closely with our cross-functional teams to advance our CAR-T candidates to clinical application.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. CAR Design and Engineering:
    • Develop and optimize robust protocols to produce high-quality lentiviral vectors and CAR-T.
    • Design and construct combinational CAR libraries and perform NGS based screening.
    • Optimize CAR constructs to enhance CAR-T cell potency, persistence, and specificity.
  2. CAR-T Production, Characterization and Functional Assays:
    • Utilize IncuCyte, eSight, RTCA, and multicolor flow cytometry technologies to assess CAR-T cell phenotype, proliferation, cytotoxicity, and cytokine secretion.
    • Perform detailed phenotypic analysis of engineered CAR-T cell using multicolor flow cytometry.
    • Conduct preclinical studies to evaluate CAR-T cell efficacy and safety in relevant animal models.
  3. Data Analysis and Reporting:
    • Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and present findings to internal teams and management.
    • Prepare comprehensive reports and contribute to scientific publications and presentations.
  4. Team Leadership and Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with other scientists, foster a supportive and innovative work environment.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including immunologists, translational researchers, PD, and manufacturing scientists.

Requirements

  1. Demonstrated experience in CAR design and CAR-T production.
  2. Proficiency in functional assays, such as IncuCyte, eSight, RTCA, ELISA, MSD, and multicolor flow cytometry.
  3. Expertise in developing and utilizing in vivo mouse models for preclinical evaluation.
  4. Comprehensive understanding of immune-oncology and the principles of cellular therapies.
  5. A can-do attitude and an ability to adapt to evolving priorities in a startup setting.
  6. Able to work independently as well in a matrix team environment.
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of protocol optimization and innovation.
  8. Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with the capability to inspire and mentor research teams.
  9. Maintain organized, detailed records to support internal documentation and regulatory requirements.
  10. Able to travel when needed.

Educational Requirement

  1. Ph.D. in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or a related field with a strong focus on CAR-T research.

Overland Compensation and Benefits:

  1. The expected salary range for this position based in South San Francisco is $110,000~$155,000. The pay ultimately offered will be determined based on job-related qualifications, education, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.

Position: In Vivo Senior Research Associate/Associate Scientist/Scientist (Contractor)

Location: On-site in the San Francisco Bay area

Department: Cell Therapy Platform Research

Overland has established GMP manufacturing facilities and is expanding our cell therapy platform to focus on autologous CAR-T cell therapies to serve global patients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. The Associate Scientist/Scientist, In Vivo Pharmacology, will be responsible for providing in vivo pharmacology support to discovery teams including designing, conducting, and interpreting experiments to demonstrate efficacy and safety of CAR-T cells in animal models.
  2. Perform in vivo tumor efficacy studies including subcutaneous and disseminated tumor cell implantation.
  3. Perform cell culture and primary cell isolation and maintenance.
  4. Perform multicolor flow cytometry, ELISA or other methods of cytokine/analyte analysis.
  5. Demonstrate a high level of initiative to troubleshoot and accurately perform data analysis and present experimental data to internal groups.
  6. Work and communicate with external CROs to streamline workflow and meet project goals in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  1. B.S. 8+ years/M.S. 5+ years/Ph.D. 2+ years of relevant industry experience in biology, physiology, immunology, cancer biology or related field.
  2. Experience in designing, conducting, and interpreting in vivo pharmacology studies.
  3. Hands on experience with animal handling procedures including dosing (IV, PO, SC), blood and tissue collection, necropsy, etc.
  4. Experience with IVIS imaging, workflow, and data analysis.
  5. Knowledge of cancer biology, immunology and understanding of in vivo models used in immuno-oncology.
  6. Software knowledge: Windows, MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), GraphPad Prism, FlowJo, Benchling.
  7. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols and lab procedures.
  8. Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively, independently, and collaboratively in a fast-paced multidisciplinary team environment.

Overland Compensation and Benefits:

  1. The expected salary range for this position based on the South San Francisco is $90,000~$135,000. The pay ultimately offered will be determined based on job-related qualifications, education, experience, and other job related factors permitted by law.
